However, a complaint has been registered against Bengali actor Riju Biswas for sending an allegedly praise-filled message on social media. The matter came to light when Riju sent such a message to a woman and the woman shared its screenshot on social media. After this, as Riju sent this message to many women, many such screenshots came to light.
According to news agency PTI, several women from Kolkata have accused Bengali television actor Riju Biswas on social media that he has sent them unwanted messages, in which he repeatedly commented that ‘you look good in a saree’. Riju is accused of sending hundreds of women messages on WhatsApp and social media to ‘flirt’ and harass them.
The allegations against Riju came to light when a woman shared a screenshot of a direct message from Biswas on Instagram. After this, other women also posted similar experiences online.
The 37-year-old actor has not denied sending the messages. He has admitted to sending the messages himself, but has also said that his intentions were not wrong. In a video statement, he said, ‘I don’t like to lie. I send these messages, but what is wrong with praising someone? Telling someone that they look beautiful in a saree is a common compliment. I even tell my mother the same.’
Following the post and public criticism, Biswas has also filed a police complaint alleging ‘harassment’ and violation of privacy. Those sharing the screenshots include models, bloggers, influencers and working women. A nutritionist posted a screenshot from 2019, which showed a similar message from Biswas, allegedly sent at 4:09 am. Similarly, another woman shared a screenshot from 2017. While Riju has been criticized, some fans have come out in his favor, while others are criticizing him. Apart from this, many memes are also going viral on social media in this regard.
