Eid-ul-Adha or Bakri Eid will be celebrated on the 6th and 7th of this month. On this day, Muslims sacrifice a goat or any other animal. At that time, Morocco, an Islamic country with a 99 percent Muslim population, has given strict orders regarding sacrifice that no citizen can sacrifice a goat or any other animal on Eid. The royal decree of King Mohammed VI of Morocco has angered people because, following his order, security forces have launched operations to stop the sacrifice of the animal in many cities. In Islam, the sacrifice is given great importance on the day of Bakri Eid. Bakri Eid gives a message to Muslims to fulfill their duty and have faith in Allah.

Mohammed VI has taken this decision in view of the dwindling number of animals due to a severe drought. He has said, ‘People should celebrate the festival of Bakri Eid this week with prayers and donations and avoid sacrifice.’

Following this decision of the king, officials have banned the sale of animals and sheep brought for sacrifice secretly have been confiscated from homes. People are very angry with this government action and have taken to the streets in protest. The Muslim world has also objected to Mohammed VI’s decision, calling it a dangerous precedent. They also say that the government is interfering in religious customs. However, some people agree with the government’s decision and are defending the decision, considering the economic and health situation.
