Wasn’t Yashaswi out? Claims he missed out on a double century due to Shubman Gill’s mistake

On the second day of the ongoing second Test match between India and West Indies, Indian team opener Yashaswi Jaiswal has fallen victim to misfortune. Yashaswi Jaiswal, who was batting brilliantly, had his dream of scoring a double century dashed due to a misunderstanding with Shubman Gill and was run out for 173 runs.

This run-out happened early in the second day’s play. Jaiswal played a brilliant drive towards mid-off and made a run to score an immediate run. He advanced almost halfway across the crease, when captain Shubman Gill, who was standing at the non-striker’s end, signaled him to stop. Yashaswi Jaiswal tried to return, but by then the ball had reached the fielder’s hand. The throw came in a short while and the bails flew. The disappointment on his face was clearly visible as he was dismissed. There was a slight argument between the two players as they left the field, which was caught on camera.

Jaiswal batted brilliantly on the first day of the Test match and remained on the pitch all day. He scored an unbeaten 173 runs off 253 balls, including 22 fours. He showed early composure and balance, and as the ball got older, he increased his strike rate. After completing his half-century in 82 balls, he scored his next half-century in just 63 balls. After crossing the 150-run mark, he looked set for another double century, but luck was not on his side the next day.
