Ahmedabad Crime Branch’s Special Operation Group staff raided Odhav and seized more than 2,500 packets of branded duplicate cigarettes and took action against two traders. Preliminary investigation revealed that they were ordering duplicate cigarettes from Delhi and Madhya Pradesh and selling them in large quantities in the local market in Ahmedabad.
Darshak Parekh, a resident of Shreeji Tower in Vastrapur, had received specific information that duplicate cigarettes were being sold in Ahmedabad under the name of branded companies at Navdurga Traders and Mahakali Stores near Odhav Chhotalal’s Chali. Based on this, a raid was conducted with the help of officers of the Special Operation Group.
In which the police found about 2500 boxes of duplicate cigarettes from both the shops. In the initial investigation, the police found that the quantity of these cigarettes was brought from Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Which was illegally manufactured and sold in paan shops at the price of branded cigarettes.
