Suicide attack in Pakistan, 10 dead, 32 injured: Blast near Army headquarters in Quetta

A massive explosion took place on a busy street near the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Pakistan’s Quetta city on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people and injuring 32.

According to Quetta SSP Mohammad Baloch, the explosives-laden vehicle was turning from Model Town to Hali Road when the explosion occurred.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari had said that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists were behind it.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti called the incident a terrorist attack. He said, security forces retaliated after the explosion and killed four terrorists. Terrorists cannot weaken our morale with their cowardly acts. We stand with the families of the martyrs and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack and said that India-backed terrorists were behind it.

A statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat said that the suicide attack was carried out by terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, the injured have been admitted to the Civil Hospital and Trauma Centre. Emergency has been declared in all major hospitals.
