Rahul Gandhi met Jubin Garg’s family, paid emotional tribute

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Rahul Gandhi went to Guwahati on Friday (October 17) and met the family of late Assamese singer Jubin Garg. During this, he paid tribute to Zubin. In a video that went viral on social media, Rahul Gandhi was seen meeting Jubin Garg’s wife Garima Saikia Garg and other family members. He consoled the family and supported the ongoing investigation into Zubin’s death.

Speaking to the media, Rahul Gandhi said that this is a very sad moment for me. I told my family that I wish I had come here on a happy occasion. When I was 17, I used to see Kanchenjunga every day during my mountaineering course in Sikkim. I love mountains because they are honest, steadfast and beautiful.
Zubin Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025. In an official statement, the Singapore police said that the preliminary investigation into his death did not find any evidence of conspiracy or wrongdoing.

According to the statement, the case is under investigation under Singapore’s Coroners Act 2010 and the entire process could take up to three months. The investigation report will then be submitted to the state coroner. The police have appealed to the public to refrain from spreading rumours and be patient until the investigation is completed.

Meanwhile, the Assam police have arrested five people in connection with the investigation into Zubin Garg’s death. These include Shyamkanu Mahant, the organizer of North East Festival Organizers, which organized Zubin’s show in Singapore. Apart from this, Zubin’s manager Siddharth Sharma, Zubin’s cousin and police officer Sandeepan Garg, and Zubin’s two personal security officers Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Vaishya have been detained.
