Nestle’s new CEO takes big decision : 16000 jobs will be cut

Swiss multinational company Nestle, one of the world’s top companies, is going to eliminate a total of 16000 jobs worldwide in the next two years. This big decision has been taken by the company’s new CEO Philippe Navratil. Philippe Navratil was appointed as Nestle’s CEO in early September 2025. He said that times are changing, and Nestle will have to change quickly.

The company said that out of these 16000 positions, about 12,000 positions will be for white-collar employees. This layoff will help the company save 1 billion Swiss francs. Already, 4000 jobs will be cut in Nestle’s production and supply chain sectors. Now, another 12,000 positions are also planned to be eliminated. It wants to save 3 billion Swiss francs in its costs by the end of 2027. This is more than the previously set target (2.5 billion). Nestle, presenting its nine-month financial report, said that its sales fell by 1.9 percent and it earned 65.9 billion Swiss francs.

Experts believe that this result shows the economic pressure on the company, the company is changing its structure. The company has been facing several challenges for some time now. The company is also facing a bottled water scam. For all these reasons, the pressure is on the new leader Navratil to stabilize the company and win the trust of investors.

Nestle has more than 2,000 brands worldwide. The company is now focusing on areas with potential for future growth to reduce costs and earn more profits. From an Indian perspective, Nestle India Limited is the Indian subsidiary of Nestle. Nestle India has announced its second quarter (Q2) results. The company’s net profit fell by about 23.6%. However, the company’s share price has reached a record high. The share increase was mainly due to the company’s expanded operations and sales, with domestic sales growing by 10.8%. Total income from operations was about Rs. 5,643.6 crore, which is a growth of 10.6% compared to the previous year.
