Usha Vance, the Indian-origin wife of US Vice President JD Vance, described the India-US relationship as very personal for her. Speaking at the eighth edition of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Leadership Summit in Washington, Usha Vance said, “There is a very personal relationship between the two countries, because my family members live in India and many of my family members also live in America. I grew up visiting India and meeting my family members.” During his visit to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited JD Vance and his family to his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Regarding the visit, Usha Vance said, ‘It was really special to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My children saw him, they saw an Indian man with a beard and white hair and immediately considered PM Modi as their grandfather. My children are very impressed with him; they love him very much, and he really strengthened the friendship with our 5-year-old child by giving him a birthday gift that day. When we went to his house, my children just kept running, they were hugging the PM. The Prime Minister was very kind and generous towards the children.’
