Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is making waves at the box office. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has surpassed some of the biggest films of this year in the very first week. Now ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has surpassed the highest grossing film of this year. Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Chhaava’, which was released in theaters on February 14, 2025, collected Rs 807 crore worldwide. No other film released this year has been able to match it. But, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ completely changed the game. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has earned Rs 818 crore worldwide.
When ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ was released, the Kannada version had the lion’s share of the earnings for the first few days. After that, the Hindi audience also contributed a big lion’s share. The film started breaking old records in the Hindi market and started creating new records. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that the Hindi version of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has joined the 200 crore club. It has become the third highest-grossing Hindi film of the year. Now two films ‘Sayyara’ and ‘Chhava’ are above it. Despite being a Kannada film, the Hindi dubbed version of the film is earning big.
‘Kantara Chapter 1’ was released in early October. It is not that no big films were released in theaters throughout the month so that ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ had to face any competition. Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thama’ and Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ were also released during Diwali. Both these films are also doing well, but they could not break the momentum of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’.
It is worth noting that ‘Thama’ has earned around Rs 91 crore in six days. Meanwhile, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has earned around Rs 41 crore. This film is on the verge of becoming the biggest film of Harshvardhan Rane’s career.
