- Forced to appear in court
- There must have been a misunderstanding, she apologized saying that every mother is respectable for me
Kangana Ranaut mocked an elderly protester during the 2021 farmers’ movement by calling him Bilkis Dadi. Due to this, a defamation case was filed against her, and Kangana finally had to appear in court and apologize.
Kangana herself could not appear in court and requested a hearing through video conferencing instead. But the court rejected this request, so she had to appear in person. Kangana had earlier also approached the High Court to quash this defamation case, but the High Court rejected Kangana’s application.
Finally, Kangana appeared in the Bathinda court and apologized to the elderly Mahinder Kaur and her family, saying that I had not made a personal post against anyone. There must have been some misunderstanding.
Every mother in Punjab is respectable to me.
However, the court decided to hold further hearing in November after Mahinder Kaur’s family sought time to decide whether to accept this apology.
