Indiscriminate stabbing attack on British train : people hid in toilets to save their lives; 9 injured

In the United Kingdom, people were attacked indiscriminately with knives inside a train. Several people were taken to hospital for treatment after the incident of this knife attack on a train in Cambridgeshire, eastern England. According to the information received, 10 of these people have been taken to hospital. Out of which 9 people were seriously injured. After this incident, a large contingent of emergency services including police and ambulances reached the scene. Police have now arrested two suspects in this matter.

British Transport Police confirmed on social media that, “We are currently investigating an incident on a train to Huntingdon, where several people were attacked with knives. Two suspects have been arrested in this case. Several people are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

According to the report, an eyewitness told local media, ‘I saw a man with a large knife. There was blood everywhere and people were hiding in the toilets for their lives. Passengers were falling on each other trying to escape. Some were screaming ‘We love you’.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has described the horrific incident as extremely worrying. Starmer said in a statement on ‘X’, ‘My thoughts are with all those affected by this incident, I thank all emergency services for their swift action. I also appeal to the public to follow the advice of the police.’

According to government figures, knife crime in England and Wales has been on the rise since 2011. Britain has some of the world’s strictest gun laws, which has led to a rise in knife crime. Prime Minister Starmer has described knife crime as a national crisis and his Labour government has sought to crack down on its use.

The Home Office said on Wednesday that nearly 60,000 blades have been seized or surrendered in England and Wales as part of a government effort to halve knife crime in a decade. Possession of a knife in public carries a prison sentence of up to four years. However, the government said there had been an 18 per cent fall in knife murders last year.
