- Hamas to release 20 hostages, Israel to release over 2,000 Palestinians within 72 hours of halting attacks
Israel-Hamas are ready to implement the first phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. Under it, Israel will implement this peace plan within 24 hours of receiving the approval of the Israeli cabinet. As part of it, Israel will stop attacks from Friday or Saturday. Hamas will release 20 hostages 72 hours after Israel stops its attacks.
Hamas took these hostages in the attack on October 7, 2023. Israel will also release over two thousand Palestinians. This settlement is considered the first step towards ending the Gaza war. There are still many disagreements over President Trump’s 20-point plan, but Israel and Hamas have agreed on the implementation of its first phase. While discussions on the remaining issues will ensure the successful implementation of the first phase of the peace plan. Meanwhile, Israel expressed displeasure over the release of hostages as was done earlier. Therefore, this time, the precondition has been that Hamas will release the hostages honorably and will not promote its propaganda in any way.
Currently, Trump’s 20-point plan has said that Hamas should give up control of Gaza and Hamas should lay down its arms. On the other hand, Israel has also said that it should give up control of Gaza. In return, Hamas has agreed to give up power in Gaza, but it has not yet talked about laying down its arms. While Netanyahu does not want to give up control of Gaza in any way, he is currently ready to partially withdraw from several areas of Gaza, if not completely.
Surprisingly, the Israeli attacks continued on Thursday. The Israeli military carried out attacks in northern Gaza on Thursday, there were no reports of casualties, but Israeli attacks in Gaza are still ongoing.
