Following the crash of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in Ahmedabad, the shares of the aircraft manufacturer are witnessing a sharp decline.

Boeing shares fell 7.8% to $197.3 (Rs. 16,875) in pre-market trading on Thursday, while they closed at $214 (Rs. 18,305) on Wednesday. This is the third consecutive day that Boeing shares have declined.

After the plane crash, the company said, “We are aware of initial reports of an aircraft accident. We are working to collect more information.”

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was purchased by Air India in 2012. The aircraft was manufactured at a South Carolina plant. It flies on long routes like Delhi-New York, Mumbai-London.

There were 242 passengers on board the plane. Of these, 53 were British, 7 Portuguese and one Canadian. More than 100 bodies have been recovered from the crash site so far. Most of the bodies are so badly burned that it is very difficult to identify them. Their identification will be possible only after DNA tests.

The building where the plane crashed houses doctors from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. According to the information received, 15 doctors have been injured.
