The Philippines was rocked by a powerful earthquake today. A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Mindanao, an island in the south of the Philippines, on Friday morning, shaking the entire area. The system has also issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake, sending people running out of their homes in panic.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake struck at 9:43 am local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 20 kilometers east of Santiago city in Oriental province. On the other hand, the agency monitoring earthquakes in the Philippines has issued an alert for the public following this powerful earthquake. People living in coastal cities in the central and southern Philippines have been advised to immediately evacuate to higher ground.
